This Healing Feeling had the privilege of interviewing Santa, a remarkable individual who triumphed over severe chronic fatigue, chronic pain, POTs, MCAS, and more. After enduring four years of being bedridden, she has now reclaimed her life!
In this captivating conversation, Santa shares her journey of taking ‘patient responsibility’ for her condition. She reveals the crucial decision to distance herself from forums and articles that painted these conditions as ‘incurable,’ recognizing the necessity of maintaining hope for transformative change.
As a mother of three, Santa faced the unwelcome intrusion of illness, especially after a recent house move. Health, however, spares no one, leading her down a path of sickness and ultimately confinement to her bed.
The Santa I met radiates health and healing—a testament to her personal struggle that has transformed into a life dedicated to serving others. Her story is a powerful reminder that personal battles can evolve into beacons of inspiration and service to the community.

What is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?
Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), also known as myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), is a complex and debilitating disorder characterized by profound fatigue that is not improved by rest and may be worsened by physical or mental activity. The fatigue experienced by individuals with CFS is often severe enough to interfere with daily activities and can persist for months or even years.
In addition to persistent fatigue, people with CFS may experience a range of other symptoms, including:
- Post-exertional malaise: Worsening of symptoms following physical or mental exertion.
- Cognitive difficulties: Problems with memory, concentration, and attention (referred to as “brain fog”).
- Unrefreshing sleep: Despite getting adequate rest, individuals may wake up feeling unrefreshed or fatigued.
- Muscle pain and joint pain: Widespread or localized pain in muscles and joints.
- Headaches: Recurrent headaches or migraines are common.
- Sore throat and swollen lymph nodes: Some individuals with CFS may experience a persistent sore throat or swollen lymph nodes.
The exact cause of chronic fatigue syndrome is not fully understood, and there is no single test to diagnose it. Diagnosis is typically based on symptoms and medical history, and other possible medical conditions must be ruled out. Treatment for CFS often focuses on managing symptoms and may include a combination of medications, lifestyle changes, and therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and graded exercise therapy (GET).
CFS can have a significant impact on quality of life, and individuals with the condition may struggle with employment, social relationships, and daily functioning. Research into the underlying mechanisms and effective treatments for CFS is ongoing.
