Life After a Liver Transplant Without a Gallbladder: What I Wish I Had Known About Bloating
When I had my liver transplant at 32, no one mentioned they would be removing my gallbladder too. It seemed like a small detail at the time, but I soon learned it would change the way I ate forever. A single meal — a hearty chilli with black beans — left me so bloated I could barely move. What I did not realise then was that without a gallbladder, certain foods and habits can trigger painful, balloon-like bloating. Over time, I have learned how to eat in a way that keeps my digestion comfortable, without giving up the foods I love. This is what I wish I had known from the start.
